However, in Immigration Court there is no rule like the above regarding where your deportation case will be heard. That is because

Altamonte Springs was originally known as Snow Station, a stop on the South Florida Railroad. In 1882, a group of Boston millionaires funded the Altamonte Land, Hotel and Navigation Company with the money to buy 1200 acres in the area that would later be known as Altamonte Springs. By the way, "Altamonte" comes from the Spanish words "alto" meaning "high" and "monte" meaning "hill."

In 1883, the Altamonte Land, Hotel and Navigation Company built The Altamonte Hotel. The Altamonte was a winter resort for wealthy visitors. The Altamonte was a magnificent hotel with its 130 rooms, 49 fireplaces, 500 feet of verandas, and cool pure water that was piped to the Altamonte from one of the nearby springs.

A few years after the Altamonte was built, the U.S. Post Office granted the name change from Snow Station to Altamonte Springs. And, some 33 years later, Altamonte Springs was incorporated as a town in 1920.

The Altamonte Hotel continued to cater to its wealthy winter guests until it burned down in 1953. Fifty firemen from seven communities fought the fire for 22 hours but could not save the Altamonte.
