Possibly, after residing in Apopka with your family for a while, something that may affect your legal permanent residence / green card has come up.

Perhaps you have been harmed by a group the government in your country cannot control, or by the government in your country, and you are seeking political asylum. Or possibly you are in need of other
immigration relief.

Maybe you would prefer to stay in Apopka because your country has been devastated by a natural disaster or has an ongoing armed conflict, it would not be safe to return now, and you are in need of Temporary Protected Status.
You may already know that if a person who lives in Apopka needs to file a civil case, the case would likely be filed in Orange County because most of Apopka is located in Orange County. Likewise, if a person is accused of a crime in Apopka, the case would likely be filed in Orange County.

However, in Immigration Court there is no rule like the above regarding where your deportation case will be heard. That is because
deportation cases are heard wherever the government files the charges. Obviously, this can create serious problems.

The City of Apopka is named after Lake Apopka, the third largest lake in Florida. Lake Apopka, in turn, was named after the Indians who previously inhabitated the Apopka area a couple hundred years ago. However, the origin of the Apopka name itself is unclear.

Some say that the Apopka name was shortened from Indian words "aha" (meaning potato) and "papka" (meaning eating place). Others say that the Apopka name came from the Indian word "tsalopopkohatchee" (meaning catfish-eating creek) and that Apopka had originally been thus named. Then, when the Apopka name was shortened to Ahapapka, the translation became that of "potatoes."

Although the origin of the Apopka name is unclear, we do know that Apopka was incorporated in 1882 as Apopka City and that five years later the name was shortened to Apopka. Not long after, Apopka was dubbed "Fern City" but the introduction of other tropical flowers led to a change in Apopka's nickname to "Indoor Foliage Capital of the World.”

Apopka is the second largest city in Orange County and today, more than thirty eight thousand call Apopka home.
