You may be seeking political asylum because you have been
harmed by the government of your country or by a group the
government in your country cannot control. Or perhaps you
are seeking other immigration relief.
Perhaps you and your family have been in Winter Springs for
many years and have now encountered some obstacles that
may affect your legal permanent residence / green card.
Or perhaps you are seeking Temporary Protected Status to
remain in Winter Springs because your country has an ongoing
armed conflict or has been devastated by a natural disaster and
it would not be safe to return right now.
You may be aware that if a person from Winter Springs is going to file a civil case, the person would likely do so in Seminole
County because the city of Winter Springs is located in Seminole County. And, if someone allegedly commits a crime in Winter
Springs, the charge would likely be filed in Seminole County.
In Immigration Court though, deportation cases are heard wherever the charges are filed by the government. Obviously, the
filing of a deportation case far from where a person lives can bring about unexpected obstacles.

New York merchant Moses Levy owned hundreds of thousands of acres of Florida land before Spain ceded Florida
to the United States. Levy's holdings from Spanish land grants included all of modern day Winter Springs.
In the 1880's, the trading camp at Tuscawilla Landing, on Lake Jesup in present day Winter Springs, was one of the
last southern stops for St. Johns River steamboat traffic. Tuscawilla Landing was located to the east of present day
Winter Springs High School and the Winter Springs City Hall, and behind the present day Winter Springs Town
Center, at the end of the continuation of Tuscawilla Road past SR 434.
Present day Winter Springs was originally incorporated as North Orlando in 1959. At the time, Winter Springs had
less than 600 residents. By 1972 though, the residents of the soon to be named Winter Springs were tired of the
North Orlando name. And that year, the residents held a referendum which resulted in the name change to Winter
Springs.
Winter Springs is the largest, by area, of the seven incorporated cities of Seminole County. And today, more than
thirty three thousand residents call Winter Springs home.
