If you live in Deltona and need the help of a Central Florida
divorce lawyer or a family law attorney... We Can Help You
Divorce, child support, child custody, and other family law related cases are usually filed in the county where both parties reside. As you know, Deltona is located in Volusia County, Florida. Therefore, if you and your spouse live in Deltona, your Deltona divorce, alimony, child custody, modification, visitation, child support, relocation, juvenile dependency, or other family law related case, would usually be filed with the Court in Volusia County.
Like in the examples noted above, if you live in Deltona and the other party lives in another city located in Volusia County, your Deltona family law case would typically still be filed in Volusia County.

However, if you live in Deltona and the other party lives in a city that is not located in Volusia County, your Deltona
divorce or other type of family law case could be filed in Volusia County, but would not necessarily have to be filed in Volusia County.

Likewise, if you are the unmarried parent of a child and you and the other parent reside in Deltona, your Deltona child custody, modification, visitation, relocation, paternity, child support, juvenile dependency, or other family law related case, would usually be filed with the Court in Volusia County.

But remember, it is the county of residence not the city of residence, as noted above, which determines where a divorce or other
family law related case should be filed. And of course, for purposes of determining where a family law case should be filed, the marital status of the parties is not a relevant factor.

In 1859, George Sauls, his wife Adeline, and their six children, became the first settlers in the area which today is known as Deltona. Back then, the desolate Deltona area was referred to as Saulsville.

Sauls, who was originally from Haw Creek (north of Deltona) served as a secret agent for the Confederates during the Civil War. Sauls is said to have laid out the Titusville Public Road when, in 1865, he helped a Confederate General haul a Federal steamboat captured by the Confederate Army from the Deltona area to the Titusville area.

The Deltona area was rather quiet until 1962, when a company purchased 17,203 acres for development. Later that year, the Mackle Company began construction of homes in the subdivision which they named Deltona Lakes and, in 1963, the first residents of Deltona Lakes moved in. Interestingly, although Deltona is located approximately halfway between Orlando and Daytona, the name Deltona is a combination of Deland and Daytona.

The Deltona area was incorporated as the City of Deltona in 1995, on its third try. Today, Deltona has a population of over eighty five thousand.
